Endings in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice refers to the conclusions to the game that depend on player actions / choices throughout the game. When the game finishes, a New Game Plus cycle is started, and players can experience the game again. This Sekiro Endings Guide gives players the best path to achieve all endings in the game.

Sekiro Endings Guide

  1. Shura Ending - Bad Ending, end the playthrough early
  2. Immortal Severance Ending - Complete one playthrough
  3. Purification Ending - Complete a more complex playthrough
  4. Return Ending - Complete many steps this playthrough

Can you do all Endings in One Playthrough?

It is possible to progress all endings simultaneously, except the Shura ending. This will allow for all content specific to those Endings to be available in a single playthrough. At the very end, the player will have the option to choose which of the three non-Shura endings to proceed with, and will be awarded with the respective trophy or achievement associated with it. To obtain the associated trophies and achievements for other endings, players must either beat the game multiple times (either NG or NG+) or make a backup of their save before the choice must be made, and load it after each ending is achieved.

Please note that reloading for the endings does not give you the platinum / 100% completion in one playthrough, because there are other achievements/trophies that require multiple playthroughs, such as All Bosses (which requires one Shura and one non-Shura playthrough). Thus, the minimum number of playthroughs required for all trophies/achievements is 4 (2 if the player uses save-scumming to view multiple endings in one playthrough, as not all prosthetic upgrades can be completed in one playthrough).

Sekiro Endings Guide: How to get all Sekiro Shadows Die Twice Endings

There are a total of four endings that can be unlocked in Sekiro, and this guide will teach you how to unlock all of them in order to obtain all trophies and achievements. Players may be looking for the "best ending" and "true ending" of Sekiro, and they are explained on this page.

Endings Explained: Step-by-Step Guide
Shura

Shura Ending (Follow the Iron Code  Ending)

"Shura" is considered the "bad" ending of the game, as it will cut your playthrough short and produce a bad outcome for the characters. It's still necessary for 100% completion, and it's the easiest ending to unlock.

In this ending, Sekiro decides to follow the Iron Code and obey Owl's wishes to obtain the power of the Divine Heir. Realizing that his forsaking of Kuro has begun the process of transforming Sekiro into a Shura, first Emma, and then Isshin Ashina will attempt to put him down, but Sekiro slaughters them both. Afterwards, Owl returns and lays an unseen object (revealed by datamining to be the newly-severed head of Genichiro Ashina, Owl having killed him for his Mortal Blade), then congratulates Sekiro on defeating Isshin.  Looking down a balcony, Owl boastfully declares the whole country is his and Sekiro's for the taking, only to be impaled from behind by Sekiro. Confused and bewildered by his foster son's abrupt betrayal, Owl turns towards him and realizes the demon that Sekiro has become, before collapsing dead. Kuro, watching nearby, sees the bloodshed and fire around Sekiro and realizes Sekiro has become a Shura.  The Ashina province is soon engulfed by flames and bloodshed.

This ending locks the player out of all other endings on their current playthrough and ends the events of the game early, resulting in many missed items (most notably, the highest tier of upgrade materials) and leading into an early NG+ - that said, the player also unlocks the combat skill One Mind, which is exclusive to this ending, and so may be worth choosing on a subsequent playthrough. This is in contrast to the Dragon Flash combat skill, which is awarded for the remaining three endings.  Furthermore, this ending has a unique boss fight that is required for the All Bosses trophy.

  1. Progress the story and collect the Lotus of the Palace and the Shelter Stone key items.
  2. At the top of Ashina Castle, The Owl will give you the choice to follow the Iron Code or to continue to serve Kuro, the Divine Heir.
  3. Choose to follow the Iron Code and then fight the next two boss fights.

Immortal Severance Ending (Serve Kuro  Ending)

Immortal Severance is the most common ending for a full playthrough, and most players will unlock this naturally as it does not require extra steps. This is considered a mildly bad ending as it brings a tragedy.

In this ending, Sekiro helps Kuro carry out the Immortal Severance to end the Dragon's Heritage.  This requires giving Kuro the Divine Dragon's Tears then using the Mortal Blade to kill Kuro.  Sekiro, in turn, will take the Sculptor's place at the Dilapidated Temple and pass the time carving Buddhas.   It may be surmised that the Dragon's Heritage may now pass to another heir as Immortal Severance was carried out once before by Takero which led to Kuro being chosen as the next Divine Heir.

This is the default ending available if the player stays loyal to Kuro and the game is progressed normally.

  1. Progress the story and collect the Lotus of the Palace and the Shelter Stone key items.
  2. At the top of Ashina Castle, The Owl will give you the choice to follow the Iron Code or to continue to serve Kuro, the Divine Heir.
  3. Choose to continue to serve Kuro and then proceed through the rest of the game.
  4. Beat the final boss, talk to Kuro, and choose to give Kuro ONLY the Divine Dragon's Tears

Purification Ending (Alternate Serve Kuro  Ending)

Purification is a more complex ending that will require the player to do some extra steps, and thus it is a rare ending that most players will unlock on NG+. It is considered a good ending as it provides a good outcome for the characters.

This ending is similar to the Immortal Severance ending but, instead of killing Kuro to put an end to the Dragon's Heritage, Sekiro will use the Divine Dragon's Tears and Aromatic Flower to purify Kuro of the Dragon's Heritage.  To complete the purification Sekiro will use the Mortal Blade to sacrifice himself to remove the Immortal Oath, the last link holding the Dragon's Heritage to Kuro.  Later, Kuro and Emma will visit Sekiro's grave.  It is surmised that, like with the Immortal Severance ending, this may not be a permanent solution as the Divine Dragon may choose another to be its heir.

Progressing this ending allows the player to obtain two Prayer Beads and a Memory, which are otherwise missable; as such, it is advisable to complete the steps for this ending even if the player does not intend to select it as their final choice.  For this ending, stay loyal to Kuro when asked, and complete the following steps before defeating the Divine Dragon. Note: Step 2 can be completed after defeating The Owl, but if not done up to this point, it is highly recommended to do it immediately after defeating him. Simply eavesdrop on Kuro as many times as you can, rest, talk to Emma/Kuro, resting each time, until Emma moves upstairs. The key here is talking to Kuro until the topic becomes the Mortal Blade.

  1. Defeat Genichiro at the top of Ashina Castle, get the Mortal Blade from The Divine Child, and acquire either the Lotus of the Palace or the Shelter Stone key item from after defeating the Guardian Ape, or the Corrupted Monk respectively. Alternatively, if you get the Mortal Blade after both the Lotus of the Palace and Shelter Stone, you may still do steps 2 and 3 after killing The Owl, and will immediately be able to do steps 6 and beyond.
  2. Exhaust all dialogues with Kuro and Emma, including a conversation with Kuro about the Mortal Blade. Eavesdrop on Kuro while he's standing near the incense burner. Multiple rests may be required for Kuro to appear here instead of the library. The specific location for eavesdropping requires the player to stand just around the corner behind Kuro and the large statue he stands near. Go around behind the statue and then hug the wall on the left side of it. Rest and repeat until you eavesdrop Kuro alluding to a secret he's keeping from Sekiro which includes the phrase "Do... what must be done."  If you are not getting this eavesdrop conversation you might not have exhausted all dialogues yet with Kuro and/or Emma. (You may also eavesdrop on Kuro in the library, while facing the window in the corner, and looking back at Kuro to eavesdrop.
  3. After resting, Emma will move to the top of the stairs. Speak with her and agree to keep Kuro alive.
  4. Progress the story and collect the second key item (Lotus of the Palace or Shelter Stone). At this point you will face new Interior Ministry Ninjas at Ashina Castle.
  5. At the top of Ashina Castle, The Owl will give you the choice to follow the Iron Code or to continue to serve Kuro, the Divine Heir. Choose to continue to serve Kuro and defeat The Owl.
  6. Talk to Emma at the top of the stairs again, she will now give you Tomoe's Note.
  7. Travel to the Old Grave Idol and go to the left, you will find Emma standing infront of two tombstones. Talk to Emma and then travel to Dilapidated Temple.
  8. Eavesdrop on Emma and Sculptor from behind the temple. Talk to Emma and then choose "Ask about what you overheard", and then, "What are you hiding?" to receive Father's Bell Charm. Use it at the Buddha statue. If you haven't completed Hirata Estate  area, you will need to do it by killing Lady Butterfly before you can use Father's Charm.
  9. Go to the Lady Butterfly boss room and defeat Owl (Father) to obtain Aromatic Flower; the optional Memory is also awarded for this fight.  There are also two mini bosses in the area before this that award the player with Prayer Beads; one is optional while the other one is mandatory in order to continue.
  10. Beat the final boss, talk to Kuro, and choose to give him the Aromatic Flower ("Everblossom") and then the Divine Dragon's Tears.

Incidentally, once the Father's Bell Charm is acquired and the alternate Hirata Estate unlocked, the player is free to progress the game all the way up to just before speaking to Kuro after the final boss is defeated before completing the remaining steps, if desired.

Return Ending (Dragon's Homecoming  Ending)

Return or Dragon's Homecoming is the "final" and "true" ending of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It is a difficult ending as it requires players to complete time-sensitive steps along their playthrough, so it will likely be unlocked on NG+ and beyond. It is considered the best possible ending for the game.

In this ending, the Divine Child of Rejuvenation will help Sekiro and Kuro return the Divine Dragon to its place of origin (somewhere west of Japan).  To do so, Sekiro will feed the Divine Child both the Dried Serpent Viscera and the Fresh Serpent Viscera which will allow the Divine Child to shed Frozen Tears.  Giving the Divine Dragon's Tears and Frozen Tears to Kuro will allow the Divine Child to perform the Cradling Ritual and absorb (?) Kuro within herself.  Sekiro and the Divine Child then set out to travel west to return the Dragon from whence it came and finally end the Dragon's Heritage from returning to Japan.

This ending is arguably the most complicated to unlock.  For this ending, stay Loyal to Kuro when asked, and complete the following steps before defeating the Divine Dragon.

  1. You may start by acquiring the Holy Chapter: Infested early.  This item is required later on for the ending but can be acquired sooner if the player clears Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo early.
    • Before defeating Genichiro Ashina (specifically, before learning where the Mortal Blade is from Isshin after defeating Genichiro):
      • Talk to the old woman praying near the Ashina Castle Idol. If you have not spoken to the old woman near the Ashina Castle Idol, the next step will not work!
      • Travel to the Main Hall Idol in Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo. There will be a monk praying to the Buddha. Speak to him to get Holy Chapter: Infested.
    • If you have already defeated Genichiro Ashina and spoken to Kuro afterwards, and the monk is no longer there:
  2. Travel to Inner Sanctum Idol and talk to Divine Child of Rejuvenation. Talk to her to receive Rice (you can give her the Holy Chapter: Infested now as well).
  3. Get rid of the rice by using it on yourself (or giving it to the Old Hag). Reset the area completely--leave Senpou Temple and return (using the return idol will not reset the area); resting will not suffice. If you have more than one rice or Fine Snow in your inventory from previous playthroughs, you need to get rid of all of them.
  4. Repeat this step, asking for more Rice and using it until you trigger the Divine Child to fall asleep. Ask her for Rice one last time, use the Rice, and reset the area.
  5. The Divine Child will now not be feeling very well. Exhaust her dialogue and give her a Persimmon (you can buy this from the vendor in Shugendo; he also gives you one for free if you visit him after speaking with the Divine Child for the first time). Give her a Persimmon and then ask for more Rice. She will give you the item Rice for Kuro and ask that you give it to him.
  6. You can give Rice for Kuro immediately or later, but do it before defeating the Divine Dragon. Once you give Kuro the Rice for Kuro, rest at the idol and speak to him again. He will give you two Sweet Rice Balls. You can use one of them (not mandatory) for a little extra dialogue with Kuro and later with the Child.
  7. Travel back to the Divine Child and talk to her.
  8. The Holy Chapter: Infested is required at this point, and must be obtained if you did not manage to acquire it earlier (see above).  Once you have given it to her, rest so that she moves to the Illusory Hall (where the Folding Screen Monkeys boss was); an entry portal is in the water directly across from the Divine Child's Inner Sanctum.
  9. At the Illusory Hall talk to the Divine Child (located near the large tree in the center) who tells you to seek out a High Senpou priest.
  10. Travel to Main Hall Idol at Senpou Temple and retrieve the Holy Chapter: Dragon's Return from the cave just outside the Hall's side entrance. The item will be on the blue monk's corpse at the end of the cave.  This item cannot be acquired from the corpse until this point is reached in the quest line. You will then need to rest.
  11. Talk to the Divine Child who has moved back to the Inner Sanctum, give her Holy Chapter: Dragon's Return and she will mention needing two serpentine fruits:
    • Fresh Serpent Viscera: From the Senpou Temple Idol to the right and below is a large hat Ministry enemy you will use the Puppeteer Ninjutsu technique on which will have him operate the kite crank. Go up the hill and through the temple with the undying monk and up into the large tree by the Old Hag. Use the kite as a grappling point to cross the valley to reach the Sunken Valley Cavern Idol. Plunge attack the Great Serpent and receive Fresh Serpent Viscera (note that you need to encounter the Great Serpent in the Sunken Valley for it to appear).
    • Dried Serpent Viscera: You will need to have encounter the Great Serpent at the bridge leading to the Gun Fort for the Great Serpent to be there. Travel to the Bodhisattva Valley Idol and head down toward where the Toxic Memorial Mob is located and enter into the cave behind him. At the end of the cave is another Great Serpent and you will need to use the Puppeteer Ninjutsu on the nearby monkey to distract the Serpent in order to grapple across safely and head into the house to find the Dried Serpent Viscera.
  12. Travel to the Divine Child and give her both Viscera items. Rest then eavesdrop.
  13. If you have not done it already, progress the story and collect the Lotus of the Palace and the Shelter Stone key items, then choose to Stay Loyal to Kuro, defeat Owl, and burn the Fountainhead Incense at the Altar after talking to Kuro.
  14. Travel back to the Inner Sanctum; the doors are now open. Talk to the Divine Child to receive Frozen Tears.
  15. Continue the game normally, beat the final boss, talk to Kuro, and give him the the Frozen Tears with the Divine Dragon's Tears.

If the prior steps are completed, the player can return to acquire the Frozen Tears at any point before speaking to Kuro at the end of the game after the final boss is defeated.

How many had to look up where to find Emma after eavesdropping on Kuro? I was stumped, she was not Kuro’s room or at Sculptor’s temple and I had no reason to go back up on the roof so I did not think to look there.

I'd say purification is way harder to get than return, for return you've got to follow some cryptic clues, go on a treasure hunt, and talk to some people. For purification you've got to fight one of the hardest bosses in the game, go on a short treasure hunt, do a bunch of evesdropping, and talk to emma a bunch.

Return may require more reading and thinking, but return means you have to fight owl V2, a fight that is nearly as much of a wall as fighting isshin.

          Something to watch out for:
I wasn't able to get the serpent to spawn at the plunge attack location. This was either because I went to the plunge attack place before encountering him at the gun fort, or because I went to the plunge attack place before killing the folding screen monkeys (already had puppeteer ninjutsu from NG). I had to take the Shura ending and try again.

Not sure why everyone thinks Shura locks out of Fountainhead Palace and other endings. I did Shura, and load the game and it started me right before making the decision to break the iron code. Went up to talk to owl, broke the iron code and was able to continue the story and get to fountainhead just fine.

I actually managed to get the return ending as my first ending without guides, just wanted to let everyone know how smart I am. If you don't believe it, it means you have a skill issue. I recommend you delete the system32 folder and never play any souls game again.

I actually managed to get the return ending as my first ending without guides, just wanted to explore and do as much as possible, also talking to npcs everywhere after every small/big event helped, currently going for Shura ending though in NG+

                • Anonymous

This guide was incredibly helpful with all of the links. Sure, it wasn’t holding your hand the whole way, but gave great info to get me through purification ending.

                  • Anonymous

If you frequently explore, understands the lore, always talks with npcs, then you're most likely be getting the 3 endings without reading the guide. The dragon homecoming ending is a bit hidden at first, but the old lady asking for rice made it easy :)

Ummm.... I think I made a big buubuu, So I got the 2 important ingredients for the "Return" ending right and went to the Divine Child and gave her 1 important ingredient but did not give her the other one...Then whateever happened to me i went to the idol and rested and the door shut...I'm so stupid, can i still get the return ending as i progress?

                      • Anonymous

For the purification ending, I can't get Kuro to spawn near the incense burner so that I can eavesdrop. I've got the shelter stone and the mortal blade but haven't killed the ape yet this playthrough. I've exhausted all dialogues and have reset the area numerous times. Not sure what I'm missing because I know I've gotten through these steps on other playthroughs.

                        • Anonymous

for the return ending, if you get the holy chapter early, it needs to be stated that you then have to go fight genichiro to progress. You will not have access to the illusive hall bell to start the cutscene until after genichiro fight.

I did the Purification ending on my first playthrough because I remember getting the Aromatic Flower at some point. I never killed Lord Kuro and I watched Sekiro sacrifice himself to end the Dragon's Heritage.

You can sort of naturally run into the return ending by remembering that the hags asked for rice and going back and forth to request it from the divine child and give it to them. After that the questline holds your hand a bit more than the guide might imply. The purification ending just looks silly though.

After reading through this. It seems to me that I almost completed all the steps for the return ending on my first playthrough, but didn't talk to someone at the right time or something cause I got the Immortal Severance ending instead. ****

Why must Miyazaki always make the coolest ending the bad one?
DS3 you have to betray all your friends but you become the lord of darkness.
Sekiro you kill all your friends but you become the god of war or something similar.
Elden ring you set the world on fire but it looks really cool.

Takeru and Tomoe actually never found the red Mortal Blade (aka Gracious Gift of Tears), so I'm not sure why it says that Takeru achieved Immortal Severance and another Divine Heir was chosen afterwards, since it's not possible to acquire the Divine Dragon's tears without the red MB.

Back in 2019 when I first played this game I got lost on my way to Genichiro so I decided to visit the "special child" the old hag was talking about. I was really confused when I reached the top of Senpou Temple and there was no boss fight, but at least I got to talk to the monk who gives you the Divine Chapter. After I had finally reached Genichiro and defeated him, I realized how little attention I was paying to the game. So I started trying to solve every quest and every riddle NPCs gave me, even cryptic ones like "dried and fresh fruit." I also began talking to every NPC almost compulsively, especially if they were in areas dedicated as "important places." And that's how I ended up getting the Return ending on my first playthrough.

It is hard to write a guide without spoiling the whole final before the STEPS????. Oh my god, with the new From Software game releasing later this year (Armored core) please, just write a generic description before the steps, and AFTER THE STEPS the full final. I love this site, but i'm disappointed with this specific page.

                                        • Anonymous

Got all 4 of the endings. That means 4 playthroughs. I'm happy. The Return ending is definitely the best as it shows Wolf alive, the Divine Child is pregnant with Kuro from the way she dresses and how she walked ('cradle' literally means a baby's bed after all) and they are about to embark on the journey west to return the Dragon's Heritage to its home. The text and dialog further implied that returning the Dragon's Heritage does not mean Kuro dies at the end so it's quite likely he'll be born normal. As for Wolf, he'll still remain undying throughout the journey enabling him to protect both his charges until the Dragon's Heritage is returned and his immortality is presumably ended. Other than the above, why this is best ending? Sequel hook!

                                          • Anonymous

The Purification Ending is arguably the best outcome. Sekiro’s purpose is to protect Kuro no matter the cost, meaning that it will eventually result in his own demise. In any other outcome, Kuro is either killed or consumed and therefore ceases to exist. If you want to do Sekiro’s character justice, go for the purification ending.

                                            • Anonymous

I got the "Do what needs to be done" line from Kuro but Emma isn't moving to the top of the stairs. Is that ok or should i just go get the shelter stone?

                                              • Anonymous

(For the person below me) It's considered the best one because even if Sekiro sacrifices himself to sever Kuro's immortality, someone else might be chosen by the Divine Dragon to become the next Divine Heir like Kuro was as Sekiro never killed the Divine Dragon, only took it's blood/tears. In the Return Ending, Sekiro and the Divine Child leave Japan with the essence of Kuro to return the Dragon to it's original location somewhere west meaning all this fighting and greed for eternal life for Divine Heritage will finally leave Japan upon achieving the Return Ending, in a way serving the greater good for the people of Japan, hence why it is considered the "best" ending

                                                • Anonymous

How is Dragon's Homecoming ending the good one? Kuro still dies, well technically the Divine Child eats him, but still he is not alive.
Imo the good ending is the one where Sekiro sacrifices himself for Kuro to live.
And the default ending where Sekiro becomes the Sculptor is the more poetic one.
                                                  Dragon's Homecoming is just meh.

Im trying to do the return ending but the door to the inner sanctum wont open when i've got the snake visera. Have i done something wrong?

                                                    • Anonymous

Why the **** do you spoil the endings before how you even say how to get them? You don't even need spoilers in the first place.

                                                      • Anonymous

For the purification ending you can eavesdrop on Kuro by hugging the wall behind if, helpful if he's already standing by the fragance

                                                        • Anonymous

damn, I was knocking off achievements for the 100%, and expected Shura run to be quick. Emma even gave me a little trouble but Isshin is another level lol, I can defeat Sword Saint without a sweat but Isshin Ashina has some crazy moves.

the difference between Immortal Severence, Homecoming Ending and Purification Ending is what Sekiro gave to Kuro? I plan to save schumming for the 3 ending, and then play NG for the Shura ending. Thank you.

                                                            • Anonymous

I somehow triggered the third invasion without getting the second memory for Hirata. Sucks. But there's always NG+.

For the purification ending you can eavesdrop Kuro in the library if you open the window first and then return from outside.

                                                                • Anonymous

I unlocked the dragons return ending by accident while working on the purification ending (first play through). I don't think it's as time sensitive as the guide makes it out to be.

Was working on fighting Owl (father) in Hirata Estate, getting rice from the divine child when suddenly she disappeared. Looked it up and found her in the hall of illusions and got the frozen tears and fine snow. So I believe I have everything for dragons return. Still haven't killed Owl for purification.

Any benefits to choosing one ending over the other (more boss fights etc)?

                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                                    • Anonymous

Kinda wish there was more people approved to edit this wiki because it could be a bit more detail about how to progress some stuff.
I was having trouble on a third playthrough getting Kuro to talk about the Shelter Stone and it turns out that you need the "Rotting Prisoner's Note" describing the drop to Ashina Depths and the stone itself. After you get that note Kuro will be sitting down in front of the incense and that's when you trigger the dialogue to go after it. I just wanted to be on the safe side because i'd rather fight the Guardian Ape and have him thrash the crap out of the poison pool and lower the enemy count because f*ck having to empty that place to fight the second snake eyes. Hope this helps anyone out.

In the voice over after, the narrator mentions that for 'for a long time after, it was said a demon lurked the land.' This implies that Sekiro does eventually die somehow. Though despite being a mortal, you can hear a bit of the Divine Dragon's leit motif as Sekiro picks up the Black Mortal Blade. Since the Divine Dragon is essentially a god, this means that in the Shura ending thru achieving Shura, Sekiro becomes a god of killing, massacres, and death. This mirrors the Childhood's Beginning ending of Bloodborne. The player is left behind in a state of confusion while the character becomes a god that has left their humanity behind.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

I went there not having the puppeteer ninjutsu, so I grappled towards the snake then the moment the kanji sign appeared used mist raven and reached for the entrance.

                                                                                            • Anonymous

oh my god, i started a brand new playthrough to get the purification ending so I could finally get those two prayer beads that i was missing, but when i had to eavesdrop on the sculptor and lady emma i just walked straight up to them like an idiot and now I cant get the ending. Is there anything else I can do ;-; (btw i dont have a save file before this apparently so thats out of the question ig)

                                                                                              • Anonymous

Beginning of the explanation of 'Return' ending: "For this ending, stay Loyal to Kuro when asked, and complete the following steps before defeating the Divine Dragon."

Now at the end of the description it says: "15. Continue the game normally, beat the final boss, talk to Kuro, and give him the the Frozen Tears with the Divine Dragon's Tears." and "If the prior steps are completed, the player can return to acquire the Frozen Tears at any point before speaking to Kuro at the end of the game after the final boss is defeated."

So killing the divine dragon wasn't normal progress of the game?

I got the frozen tears but I killed the divine dragon

                                                                                                • Anonymous

For the Purification ending, sometimes Kuro can be a little slow to find out about the Shelter Stone on his own. If you're having trouble exhausting all his dialogue to get the right eavesdrop opportunity, grab the Shelter Stone early to force the conversation out and rest afterwards.

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

Dragon's Homecoming by far is the best and most true ending. Since the start Sekiro is devoted to serve Kuro even if that means break his Iron Code. And since that mother****er Owl is just a greedy bastard and betrayed Sekro it just add up to me preferring this ending. And I got blinded on my first try. What an amazing game!

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

I accidentally did the follow iron code/shura ending without realizing I just cut out a lot of the game hhhhhh fuuuuuck

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

As implied by a few other posts, you do not have to get rid of your rice after receiving it for the first time from the Divine Child in order to progress the return ending. You will have to get rid of both rice and fine snow in order to get her to give it to you for the first time in any given playthrough, however. After that, she'll give you another rice (and rice for Kuro) after giving her the parsimmon even if you still have the previous rice in your inventory. She'll also give you the fine snow if you still have the rice.

Likewise, you never have to consume any rice balls to progress the ending. Thus you can get three rice balls on any given playthrough—two the first type that Kuro gives you after you give him Rice for Kuro, and one of the second.

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

I se alot people thinks the ending is the most time consuming to obtaine all achivements. I tell you that the ending can all be collected easily in one playthrough by backing up save before beating the game. The hardest part to acquire all achivement is actually learning all skills, the grind is unreal even with kuro charm.

                                                                                                          • Anonymous

So, on my initial blind playthrough of the game, I managed to get the Dragon's Homecoming ending, but there are some inconsistencies with how I got it and the steps listed here. - First, I got all of the necessary rice without eating any, though I did give 2 away to the two grannies that give hints about the fruits of the serpent. I ended up receiving four of the rice items throughout the play, and ended the game with 2 in my inventory. - Second, I never ate any rice balls Kuro gave to me, instead prompting a dialogue of not eating them in front of him, before returning after some time (perhaps a boss fight or more) and receiving another rice ball with unique item text. Based on this, I can confirm without a doubt that neither rice nor rice balls need to be eaten at all to progress this ending. It's important to note that I found the Holy Chapter: Infested after the Corrupted Monk boss fight, down in the Senpou Temple pool of water, and that I got both of the serpent viscera well before I knew what they were needed for. In fact, I had them both before I fought Owl, and also before I had the option to give a Persimmon to the Divine Child. I also gave a Taro Persimmon, which I received from Kotarou's side quest, to the Divine Child of Rejuvenation at one point, which may have prompted one of the additional rice servings. This entire run is recorded on twitch.tv/ciarantheblade if there is any question on the exact order of events I followed. In contrast, I completely missed the secret eavesdropping on Kuro and the entirety of the Father's Bell area. That***** is obscure.

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

I get to the top of the castle and I don't get the option to stay loyal to Kuro. I have both the lotus of the fountain and the shelter stone. I don't know what to do. I already got the shura ending but backed up my save and want to stay loyal to Kuro. Thanks

                                                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                                                      • Anonymous

My favorite ending is Shura. For once, Sekiro acts independtly from his Foster dad AND his master. A selfish choice, bringing him on a path cursed by murders, but his own path. The other paths are not so independent. Disrupting immortality by killing Kuro is at first the choice of his master. He chose to kill himself in the purification ending, because he was the one to said the sentence "Do what you have to do" at Kuro, and felt guilty. In the return ending, he is still bound to Kuro. In Shura ending, Sekiro says ***** that, I didn't choose immortality, etc, so ***** the world. And I like this choice.

                                                                                                                          • Anonymous

Just wanna be sure, because Owl is my greatest pain so far.

                                                                                                                            • Anonymous

I feel personally robbed of the ending I’ve been striving toward without spoiling the game by looking it up. Pretty disappointed!!! They really need to make it to where I can give Kuro the rice before fighting genichiro for the last time then and there.

                                                                                                                              • Anonymous

                                                                                                                                • Anonymous

As much as I like the ambiguity of the quests and choices, it really pisses me off that because of one thing, I didn't get the true ending

BTW emma is with the dead body of isshin.

From "Main Hall" Idol, go to the left and enter the cave, go inside the cave (Kill the mobs). Drop down and the turn to the right, crouch through the little "tunnel". Double jump up to the platform and then (before you grapple yourself up) it will be there in front of you. I had some troubles finding it so I decided to write it down, maybe it can be a little bit of a help for others.

Talk to Kuro and exhaust all dialogue; he now knows that you only need one more item. Rest, then eavesdrop. Talk to Emma, and say "I agree". Defeat Owl, then talk to her again. Go to the Old Grave Idol, go left, then talk to Emma. Go to the Dilapidated Temple and eavesdrop on Emma and the Sculptor. Talk to Emma about what you overheard, and then ask what she's hiding. You'll get the bell from her. Interact with the Buddha nearby. Defeat Lady Butterfly, if you haven't already. Otherwise, proceed and defeat Owl (Father). Progress as normal, defeat the Sword Saint, and then give Kuro the Everblossom. Done.
