Loaded Umbrella - Magnet is a Prosthetic Tool Upgrade in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Loaded Umbrella - Magnet is an upgrade of the initial tool that grants higher resistance to blows and deflects incoming attacks by spinning.

How to use Loaded Umbrella - Magnet

  • Hold R2: Shelter. Spread the Loaded Umbrella to guard from attacks in all directions. You can also move with the fan deployed, and it will continue to block lighter attacks as you move. Posture will not go down while the Umbrella is open.
  • R2 the moment enemy attack lands: Umbrella Deflect. Spread the Umbrella to deflect enemy attacks. Umbrella Deflects are easier to time than sword Deflects
  • L1 while holding R2: Spins the umbrella while it's open, allowing you to deflect attacks without breaking guard. The window for deflection is also longer than the standard deflection, allowing you to deflect attacks from multiple enemies or multiple faster attacks from single enemies like Ashina Elite or Long-Arm Centipedes with each spin. Costs 1 spirit emblem per spin.
  • With the Projected Force skill unlocked, the Umbrella can also be used offensively. Pressing the attack button while the Umbrella is open will activate a cross slash attack, dealing 1x-2.3x (depends on enemy) health and 2x posture damage.
    • Blocking projectiles will cause the Umbrella to smoke. Using Projected Force then will launch a projectile. Closing the Umbrella will not stop the smoking, but switching to any non-Loaded Umbrella type prosthetic will. This projectile deals the same health damage as a cross slash, but only 1x posture damage. Projectile damage does not depend on Umbrella variation.

Loaded Umbrella - Magnet Notes & Tips

  • Speak to the Sculptor located at the Dilapidated Temple to unlock a Prosthetic Tool Upgrade.
  • The Magnet variant of the Loaded Umbrella has a few distince features the other umbrellas do not carry. First, it has the ability to magnetically attract light arms bullets and nightjar shurikens. This effect is only slight, but it does bend the trajectory towards the player when out.
  • Lastly, the Magnet variant is the only variant that can block cannon fire or other explosions without the player taking full damage and being posture broken/knocked down. Players will need to perfectly deflect the explosion with other loaded umbrella variants.
  • These Tools, varying from the Loaded Shuriken to the Shinobi Firecracker, are equipped via the Shinobi Prosthetic and can be swapped out on the fly, allowing for creative and innovative solutions to the many exploratory challenges the player may face.

I thought you had to press R2 to deflect attacks with it.
I've lost a ton of spirit emblems and I feel like an idiot

After some testing i have some other information:

1: deflecting with the umbrella does more posture damage to the enemy than deflecting with the katana (i have all ashina skills and it was tested om ng+7 attack power 99)
2: the spin you do when you press l1 after opening the umbrella has more deflection frames than when you open it
3: attacking with projected force using the standard and the magnet upgrade doesnt remove the buff you have in your sword (any flame vent buff, any divine abduction buff and any bestowal ninjutsu and all of them have a nice effect when you do the cross attack with the umbrella)

the good thing about this umbrella is that it doesnt take away the sword buffs, it looks amazing to attacl with this umbrella and bestowal
