Divine Confetti

divine confetti quick item sekiro wiki guide

Confetti imbued with a divine blessing made for driving away apparitions.

The paper is made ceremoniously, whereby pulp is spread thin using water from the exalted Fountainhead.
As the gods bless the waters, so too will the confetti bless one who basks in its touch, allowing attacks to connect with apparition-type enemies.

Divine Confetti (神ふぶき, Spirit Blizzard) is a Quick Item in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It is used to provide Sekiro the ability to attack ghost-like enemies with powerful attacks distinguished by a bright purple glow on Kusabimaru.

Where to Find Divine Confetti

Ashina Outskirts, and the Memorial Mobs for 300 sen each after defeating Corrupted Monk at the Fountainhead Palace and receiving the Dragon's Tally Board.

Before unlocking the unlimited confetti, you can find them at:

  • Small chance to drop from Blue-Robed Samurai  near the Upper Tower - Antechamber Sculptor's Idol located in Ashina Castle. (Chance increased in Patch 1.03).
    • This is the first place early game to viably farm the Confetti, as well as Scrap Magnetite upgrade material.
  • Old Hag - Received for performing a pious act near her. You may use up to 3 Mibu Balloons (any type) one at a time to get an Ungo's Sugar, Ako's Sugar, and a Divine Confetti. All 3 balloons may be of the same type. Using the Bell Demon item also counts as a pious act.
  • Ashina Outskirts. - 1x Located just before the Underbridge Valley Sculptor's Idol in Ashina Outskirts.
  • Hirata Estate - From Hirata Estate - Main Hall idol; Continue past the burning buildings to where the group of enemies are. To the right is a building that you can enter, the confetti is in the center room of this building.
  • Hirata Estate - Hirata Audience Chamber idol. Turn 180 away from  Lady Butterfly's room and break through the wall directly in front of you. To the right are two enemies, and just past them is a shinobi door that you can wallhug to access a hidden room. 2x confetti and 1x Prayer Bead  are here.
  • Ashina Depths - Water Mill idol. Face back towards the village before the idol. Directly across the small bridge is a building that can be entered, 1x confetti is inside.
  • Ashina Depths - Water Mill idol. Cross the large bridge past O'Rin of the Water and continue on until you reach the building with many enemies in front of it. On the front-right side of it is an area where you can crouch to get underneath it. Once underneath, to the left is a revolving floorboard to get inside. 5x confetti is in front of the statue.
  • Sunken Valley - Drop down the hole in the floorboards in Long-Arm Centipede Giraffe's room. Go straight and then left when it forks into two directions. Look up and to the right for a grapple point, and then grapple to another point directly across from the first. On the left is a room with many lizards and 1x confetti.
  • Sunken Valley Passage -  Inside the Serpent's Cave, you'll find 3x nearby a ledge that will allow you to grapple towards Ashina Depths.
  • Fountainhead Palace - Inside the building of the noble courtyard, 2 can be found next to the hold in the ground where Sekiro can dive into.
  • Fountainhead Palace - From the Flower Viewing Idol, 3 can be found hidden behind the pagoda.
  • Fountainhead Palace - 2 can be looted next to Pot Noble Koremori.

Divine Confetti Notes & Tips

  • Can be paired with Ako's Sugar/Spiritfall to increase damage against all enemies, particularly useful in speedruns to reach the stagger threshold of certain bosses faster.
  • It also deals chip damage, allowing you to deal vitality damage to a blocking enemy.
  • Certain attacks will negate the Divine Confetti buff, notably the Phoenix's Lilac Umbrella attack with the Projected Force skill (itself a very strong anti-apparition attack) as well as that of the Suzaku's Lotus Umbrella (note that the two non-elemental versions of the umbrella do not overwrite Divine Confetti).
  • Entering an area where Sekiro sheathes his sword will also negate the buff.
  • Performing a lightning reversal will negate the buff.
  • The effects of Divine Confetti will persist underwater if cast before diving in. This provides a large damage buff against the underwater Headless fights that can be encountered after acquiring Mibu Breathing Technique.
  • Since the buff only affects Kusabimaru, using Combat Arts such as Prayer Strikes - Exorcism, or Senpou Leaping Kicks won't gain the benefit from it. High Monk combat art does have sword slashes, but they are few and performed at the end of the combo. Empowered Mortal Draw is also not affected by the buff.
  • Since the Sabimaru combo incorporates the Kusabimaru in its attacks, you can still benefit from the effects of the Divine Confetti. This is especially useful on the Improved Sabimaru (and its upgraded variants) alternate combo, which uses both swords at the same time.

this is the dumbest ****ing part of the game, who thought it was a genius idea to basically block enemies behind expensive and annoying to farm resources? its almost worse than bosses having a 30 person guard squad.

      • Anonymous

They drop from blue samurai. Just go to ashina antechamber and farm those blue guys. Most of them you can stealth kill.

Divine Confetti description says: "Before fighting a boss go to Roaming/Sekiro folder and backup your save file. If you run out of confetti load the old file. Gitgud. Fromsoft Games."

Something stupid: the umbrella attack turns off this buff.

So in other words, shield-attacking against a shichimen warrior's death laser beam turns off the buff by divine confetti, which sucks and feels counterintuitive.

            • Anonymous

Im convinced boss A.I. behavior changes if you put on divine confetti.
every single time ive used confetti to deal more dmg to a boss, he completely changes the way he acts. going way more aggressive on you

              • Fact: you never even need this to finish the game since every apparition encounter is either optional or possible without it(O'rin) and only the shichimen guys are worth killing and they go down easy with anti-air deathblow and purple umbrella, and why should you use this for headless ape while you can go with spear and thrust his neck for THICK damage?

                • Anonymous

we don't unlock infinite confetti until we beat the true monk.
At which point, you're already past 4 of the 5 headlesses,2 of the 3 shicimen warriors and literally every other apparition type boss or mini-boss.

You can collect 19 of them before fountainhead palace, each lasts 1min. let's assume you're playing blind and you're REAALLLY smart. You read the description and recognize it works very well on apparition type enemies and correctly identify each apparition type.

before fountainhead palace, the apparition type bosses are 4 headlesses, o'rin, 2 shicimen warriors, headless ape, guardian ape. that is NINE encounters with 19 confetti only. Most likely you'll need 2-3 confettis per encounter. The only way to make them enough is to literally kill said encounters first attempt using 2 confettis only which is practically impossible. This is obviously assuming that you find all confetti's and not waste them checking if a boss is apparition type or not.

In short, we should've had WAAY more divine confetti early game.

                  • Anonymous

Beat the game for the first time to only now find out that you can't buy these at all. That's really dumb. You couldn't give it to some kind of end-game merchant? I'd rather not chip away apparitions to death if I can help it.

whats up with these salty comments complaining about an optional item. yall act like it isnt sold for 300 at literally every merchant

                      • Anonymous

Lmfao these comments. I beat NG without using any confetti. In NG+ and beyond it’s great. You just aren’t used to games with actual depth of design and replayability - this game is designed for you to be able to experiment with and play with the more advanced mechanics through the NG+ cycles as a way to overcome the increased difficulty

Fun fact the 3 bags of money placed near the headless at the bottom of the lake were probably placed there by the memorial mob since they sell offerings for the dead.

                          • Anonymous

Why are so many people complaining this? Only two of those bosses are required, and you don't need the confetti to fight either of them, it just helps. They really came a wiki to complain about it without reading the damned thing.

                            • Anonymous

I get trying to make the player avoid some optional bosses early game unless they're very confident in their abilities, but tying that to a scarce item that needs to me farmed just creates tedium. If devs make it clear that a super rare, farmable item will make the player do super big boy damage, of course some will mistakenly spend too much time farming it and end up feeling like this is the entire gameplay loop, then quit playing before finding the tally board. At least that would explain all the salty comments on this page

Fewer and fewer people will play these fromsoft games because they clearly designed to promote tumour growth. And why is there multiple of each boss, like they couldn't be bothered to create more npc's so tthey copy n paste them. I want my money back

I agree this crap really ruins this game. It's great for the sweaty no-lifers. Basically another way to make the game harder for the less skilled players, it should be the other way round. Absolute cancer

"Increases weapon damage against 'standard' enemies by 25%"

So does that mean apart from standard enemies and the bosses listed as apparition type, this is useless VS all the major bosses?

                                    • Anonymous

This is the stupidest ****ing feature in the game. Why make so many bosses impossible to beat without divine confetti, but make the confetti impossible to ****ing find? Every merchant should sell this stupid **** for ****ing cheap

                                      • Anonymous

I would like to add that Divine Confetti would protect you from taking chip damage from Headless when performing a deflect. The same is also true when deflecting Genichiro's Mortal Draw.

                                        • Anonymous

Since half the minibosses in the game need this to defeat, it really is a***** choice to make it solely farmable all the way up till the monk. Should be purchasable in moderate quantities from a few of the vendors. Currently the game encourages the player to skip minibosses to save the resource for more important things.

Come one, come all! Now selling tricked out Divine Confetti! What is that, you may ask? Simply put, it is a charm you can use to banish apparitions! That, and it not only makes your sword look edgy/cool, but it increases the damage! Surely a person of your type would enjoy these boxes of blessed paper! Now selling them at the fair price of 300 Sen! Yes, 300 Sen! (Offers only sold to those with a weird dragon coupon or something) Come on now, use that Bulging Coin Purse of yours and buy the only worthwhile buff in the entire game!

I heard they say -confetti can buff up to 25% of the damage -ako sugar+25% -yashariku sugar +50% but reduce half of the health bar -red lump +50% damage but you can't revive and straight to last sculptor idol

                                              • Anonymous

I keep getting this bug during boss fights where the Confetti will run out super early. It always happens when i'm using shinobi tools like the lilac loaded umbrella or the Mist Raven. Anyone know what might be going on?

                                                • Anonymous

Why was the note about it applying a flat damage buff removed? Multiple people in the comments have tested it and say it applies a small damage boost to EVERYTHING, it's just that it deals more to apparitions.

                                                  • Anonymous

The word confetti is translated bad because they are not small piece of papers (coriandoli), they are sweets, but is possible to do confetti also with coriander seeds

                                                    • Idk if it's already mentioned somewhere, but instead of the the balloons in front of the hag, you can dispel the bell demon. If you stand by her and use the demon to dispel the curse, she will say something like "yes, that's how you pray" and reward you for your devotion with one of the sugars or confetti. Hope this saves some balloons for some people

                                                      • Anonymous

this gives a minimum 25% dmg buff vs all enemies. Increases to up to 37.5% bonus dmg vs apparitions, it's something like 31-32% vs undead. Someone else can add it to the article if they want I'm sick of trying to contribute to this wiki.

                                                        • "It also deals chip damage, allowing you to deal posture damage to a blocking enemy." Enemies already take posture damage when they block your attacks. Is this supposed to say 'vitality damage'?

                                                          • Anonymous

You do NOT, I repeat, Do NOT need to use Divine Confetti to hit O'Rin or the Illusion Corrupted Monk. The only enemies Divine Confetti allows you to hit are Headless, and the Shichimen Warriors. O'Rin is always damageable, but will eventually become Ethereal to prevent stunlocking. Illusion Corrupted Monk is NOT an Apparition, and can be damaged without Divine Confetti. She is vulnerable to Snap Seeds three times before becoming immune. If Divine Confetti does anything, it's a VERY minor damage boost. Something that is not going to help you out much in a casual playthrough due to the usually slower paced fights resulting in you only getting a few hits in before the buff runs out.

I've heard that Demon of Hatred and the boss of Hirata Revisted (not naming them here just to avoid spoiling it for anyone) take increased damage from this. Is this because Confetti just gives a generic damage buff or are these two treated as Apparitions/supernatural in some way (as the boss fought in Hirata 2 is a memory rather the real deal)?

                                                              • Anonymous

Divine Confetti is supplied by almost every single merchant after beating the True Monk for 300 Sen, someone needs to edit the page and remove clutter from listing npc's separately, and missing some. I confirmed those NPCs to be selling it: 1- Crow’s Bed Memorial 2- Battlefield Memorial Mob 3- Fujioka the Info Broker 4- Dungeon Memorial Mob 5- Shugendo Memorial Mob 6- Toxic Memorial Mob 7- Exiled Memorial Mob NPCs that don't get updated stores or I couldn't check. 1- Pot Noble Harunaga (No changes) 2- Anayama the Peddler (Not available in my playthrough) 3- Blackhat Badger (Closed store) And of course the other items unlocked with the confetti are also available at all the stores INFINITELY: 1- Divine Confetti 2- Eal Liver 3- Snap Seed 4- Scrap Iron 5- Black Gunpowder

                                                                • Anonymous

Divine Confetti also buffs damage against Sword Saint Isshin all phases and Corrupted monk. I think it also works on Guardian ape phase 2 and possibly True Monk fight (Haven't checked that)

                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                    • Anonymous

Tanto + Purple Umbrella + Umbrella Slash = 0 confetti needed, not even for the woman I'm in front of the last boss and I have 10 confetti left without ever farming them and having done all of the apparition bosses. The tanto drops from one of them, but you don't need confetti for that boss fight. And the 2 Headless in the water where the umbrella doesn't work did not require confetti either for some reason.

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                          • Anonymous

This is so *****ing retarded... it doesn't help that you can buy them only aftet beating this stupid monk 2nd time. It must a joke... a bad one.

                                                                            • You can get divine confetti off the merchant at Outskirts Wall - Stairway after killing the corrupted monk boss (the one with three death blows) I know someone has already commented the merchant here but he didn’t know why the merchant suddenly started selling it

                                                                              • Anonymous
