Sekiro Armor refers to protective gear and equipment used by the player to mitigate damage in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Unlike previous Souls games by FromSoftware, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice does not include the option to upgrade armor or clothing equipment, and there aren't any skins or opportunities to change your character's appearance.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Armor
- Protection of the player character is instead balanced by the Posture mechanic. Posture and Vitality are upgraded with Prayer Beads up to a maximum of 10 total Upgrades (requires all 40 beads found in game).
- Please see Vitality for details on player health and Gourd Seed for details on gourd upgrades.
- Certain Quick Items increase the player's defenses to damage:
- Pacifying Agent: Reduced Terror Buildup
- Gokan's Sugar: Mitigates posture damage
- Mottled Purple Gourd: Reduces Terror Buildup
- Withered Red Gourd: Reduces Burn Buildup
- Green Mossy Gourd: Reduces Poison Buildup
Cosmetic Armor & Outfits in Sekiro
Gamescom 2018 - Interview with Yasuhiro Kitao
It was also revealed that there will be no Armor, Clothing or Skins of any kind and how the player looks in the gameplay footage is pretty much how he will look the entire game, with the exception of the tools you gain in your left hand. So if you were hoping for Fashion Sekiro, then you may be a bit disappointed in this regard.

The amount of disappointed people here is funny, because everyone, EVERYONE consider this game a soulslike, but hear me out: this is not a souls game: you don't use posture to run or attack, you don't have stats and different equipments, you can't recover anything after death. This is an action game, not a soulslike, it's totally different and now that I'm finally playing it (almost finished, by the way, I'm just after the giant carp's underwater cave) I'm amazed at how much people always told me this is the best souls. It's not a souls game, stop considering everything a soulslike or a souls just because there's from software behind it (don't forget they also are being Armoured Core games). P.S: I originally came here because I've seen shadows of other players having different clothes/armours, but I'm on console, not PC, so how did they get them?

I really like this game but the lack of fashion caused me to get bored with it quicker. I'm not sure why. I don't care nearly as much about playing dress up in real life. A question for the psychologists I suppose. Maybe in the sequel assuming there is one.

I wish they just added armour as a cosmetic feature. I'd love to look like a samurai or wear some badass armour just for looking more appealing than my old raggedy clothing.

To be frank, the only reason sekiro wears his clothes is because his thickness causes his enemies to notice him, witch is a bad thing for a shinobi.

I don't know how to put this any other way. Sekiro is about continually switching between offence and defence. You aren't supposed to tank a hit. You're supposed to deflect or dodge. This game doesn't need armour. It just needs players who don't b*tch about it being "too hard".it is a game made by FromSoft. It is meant to be difficult enough to be a challenge, but still at a level where it shouldn't take long to get good.

good think there is a ton of easy to use costume mods on the nexus

Was hoping for maybe some Cosmetic Changes like a different color, but oh well. Still gonna get the game

Cant we all agree that a shinobi armor, or***** somthing like a wolf styled shinobi armor in later chapters would be cool? Why all the hate on people who like customization? I get alot of things but changing cloths or even colors wouldnt hurt nothin. If anything it would help emersion into the story and keep it fresh each chapter.

look you *****s, i think having no armor upgrades, even cosmetic ones, is a good idea: 1. no variable stats meaning you can't pick out the best armor vs given enemy. That means there's no easy way out of most fights 2. no cosmetic upgrades only mean FROM is saving you from an embarrassing outfit. i mean if you cry about outfits you must have poor taste.

Personally i don't mind the lack of customization on the main character. It bothered me a little bit at first cause i was expecting dark souls with samurais but got quickly over it cause of how intense and diverse the battle is. Deffinitely the strongest point of this game. Not everything has to be a ds clone. I try to view this game as a platform instead of an rpg but with a few customizations along the way. The only complaint that i have is that it is quite short compared to the other games. Don't get me wrong it's not a big deal, doesn't ruin your experience or anything, but after my first playthrough i find myself finishing this game realtively fast. Just that. I wouldn't mind a few more areas. Still a great game though and i love every part of it.
I didn't even notice you can't change the outfit until I saw all these complaints. Too busy with the environment. Anyway, I think the decision not to include character customization was the right one. It's oldschool. It's solid. It got the right feel.

Alternative outfits would be cool, instead I got a ninja in dirty, dingy, crusty old rags. I'm not asking for them to do anything or stat upgrades just something more easy on the eyes.

Are they really crying because there are no armors? The only disappointment here is you, who ask for one when they were told to exhaustion, that it is not a dark soul.

I have been playing ds3 lately and this game make me feel like I'm playing darksouls 3 with a lot of mods. So it's kinda fun to me thinking this is just a variation of dark souls style game. I got the reason why there is and won't be any customizations after I played it a while before checking wiki, so I'm okay with it. Still, I'd be much happier if our default costume gets changed automatically depending on the chapter we are playing.

The lack of armor is not disappointing. it's EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING. beside the story, the idea that i have to search every inch of the map because there might be an armor piece a ring or a weapon behind the next corner or on a enemy IS what drove me to finish every dark souls game... in sekiro, i only play it for the story. theres no real ... sens of evolution for me not that its a bad game, its from fromsoftware. i dont think they know how to make a bad game. but DISAPPOINTING

Not only has there been customization in Dark Souls etc. It has also been in the Tenchu games... what the hell, wheres the creativity for costumes?

There should be at least one set of armor. Doesn't make sense to go without armor which should logically be available. I know it's supposed to reflect the character being nimble but honestly having some armor shouldn't be a big deal for mobility realistically speaking.

There should have been cosmetics that dont affect gameplay reeeee

To everyone defending this REALLY BAD design choice: the game won't become a souls copy just because you can change your armor/weapon, any AAA game today lets you do it, even FPS ones. Also just because the hero is someone with an history, this also doesn't mean that he will lose his personality by changing clothes, take Geralt as example.

So lame. Health upgrades could have been useful when accompanied with some forms of damage reduction. But i guess their intention was to have bosses 2 shot you with low, and high health. While tanking 5 billion hits themselves. If only at the very least i didn't have to play looking so plain and boring through the entire game.

So when you fight the last boss you are wearing the same shirt and wielding the same blade as you did when you fought the game’s first boss? And we can’t upgrade the shirt or the blade? Lovely.

FYI to all the Soulsborne bois hanging out in the comment section, not ever action has character customization. This is a Fromsoftware game, not a Souls title. This is a character action game with a specific narrative. Sekiro (Wolf) isn’t your character. You’re playing as him. Plain and simple. This is literally no different than playing Devil May Cry for example which is also a character action game. Should we also call Déraciné a Souls game too? Get real you buncha swine.

Well its not a rpg, its action cinematic game. Damn what a letsdown. Atleast the story and game mechanic looks pretty interesting. 8/10 for me. Bloodborne still the best

Vitality and posture are upgraded with a prayer necklace. Not with a "first" prayer necklace. I'm assuming whoever edited the article only ever got one. Each necklace is numbered in the order you get it. All of them do the same thing though. I'd edit it myself, but frankly, I fear *****ing up the linking so I'll just leave a note for whoever reads this. Every prayer necklace will upgrade your stats.

Sad that there won't be any Fashion Sekiro/Fashion Dies Twice. The combat is incredibly fast-paced and challenging like Bloodborne though, so Fromsoft can keep my money.
Another reason that confirms that this game is not for me....
- Anonymous
I've spent more time playing dress up in dark souls then actually playing the game. This is a downer.
- Anonymous
Oh.. No cosmetic changes whatsoever.. Well that's extremely disappointing.
- Anonymous
Was going to buy before i found out theres no armor or clothing we can find.
- Anonymous
I understand not changing weapons and multiplayer, but armor is what brings everything together. Being able to find the perfect armor set to fit the players desire only improves the chances of new players. If From software cares about its existing fans first then why take this game mechanic out

Aw no.......I was really looking forward to fashion sekiro :(

i dont mind no multiplayer but no armor cmon that gotta change rite in a dlc or somn

armor was the only missing piece to perfection on this game why the do that

Boy...this sounds pretty damn boring compared to Bloodborne...Seriously, and a lot lazier too. No multiplayer, no armor, no other weapons..Think I'll pass on this one.
Man wish they added drip other than the skins
