Thought it was weird that this enemy existed rather than rats or something. Then I imagined the potential confusion that the Tengu of Ashina’s rat hunting request may have caused if there was a literal rat trash mob.

Their only purpose seems to really clutter up the battle field making it tougher to target more important enemies.

Image if the swarm of these crickets filled up your Terror meter slowly and the more crickets were around you, the faster it would fill up. You'd either have to run away or start smacking them until it stops.
This also kind of opens up potential for a cricket-themed boss
