Promissory Note (穴山の手形, Anayama's Bill of Draft) is a Key Item in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Holding a Promissory Note applies a discounted price to the cost of items when purchasing from Merchants.
Promissory Note Usage
- Discounts the cost of items by 10% when purchasing from Merchants.
- Carries over to NG+ cycles.
How to Find Promissory Note
- Sold by Anayama the Peddler after the burning of Ashina Castle towards the end of the game.
- Receiving this item requires the player to have sent Kotaro to aid Anayama the Peddler after progressing both their quest lines.
- Kotaro and Anayama will be gravely injured on the other side of the Gate where Anayama the Peddler usually has his shop.
Promissory Note Notes & Tips
- Thanks to the discount, you no longer lose money when "banking" it inside Coin Purses purchased from merchants.

What is the discount exactly? The article says 10% but also says that you can purchase coin purses without penalty but these 2 phrases contradict. For example, 110*0.9 = 99 and not 100.

Completed the quest again on NG+ , got a prompt to buy a Dragon's droplet for 1 sen (instead of the Promissory Note, which I already had from 1st playthrough), selected ''yes'' and I got a Divine Grass instead.

What happens if you do Anayama's sidequest on the second playthrough if it is obtained on the first playthrough.

Can you get this item multiple times to cause a stacking effect?

I suggest buying the wallets (Light, Heavy and Bountifull) from each of the merchants as you play through the game, to bank your money, then once you progress past the ashina castle siege, pick this up and buy whatever the expensive stuff you might want (dragon mask, prayer bead, gourd seeds(although I'd probably buy gourd seeds earlier to power up Sekiro)).
they say it "Carries over to NG+ cycles" but can it carry over to new game saves as well? I've always sent Kotaro to the halls of illusion so I'm not sure.
