Fresh Serpent Viscera

The persimmon-like heart of a Great Serpent.

The Great Serpent is considered to be a god of the land, and the heart is believed to be where one's spirit resides. While its shape bears similarity to a persimmon, in fact this is the red viscera of a god. It is safe to assume that eating it would be poisonous to one's health.

Fresh Serpent Viscera is a Key Item in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It is used to both complete the questline of a specific NPC and unlock an alternate ending.

 Fresh Serpent Viscera Usage

  • The Fresh Serpent Viscera and Dried Serpent Viscera must be given to the Divine Child of Rejuvenation in order to both complete her questline and obtain the key item Frozen Tears, which itself is necessary to have should players want to obtain the Return (Dragon's Homecoming) ending of the game. (Refer to the Endings guide for further details.)

How to Find Fresh Serpent Viscera

  • Sunken Valley Passage - Dropped by the Great Serpent upon defeat. (You must have already encountered the Great Serpent at the Gun Fort, or else it will not show up here.)

  • Getting to the area that allows you to kill the Great Serpent requires you to use the Puppeteer Ninjutsu technique on the "Rat" enemy located next to the kite found near the "Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo," Sculptor's Idol. After the kite has been flown, ascend to the temple straight ahead and use the kite to cross the ravine, following the path until you reach a wooden plank seemingly jutting out into thin air--jumping off this plank will allow you to deathblow the Great Serpent from above by landing on its head. Fresh Serpent Viscera Notes & Tips

  • The Fresh Serpent Viscera is one of the "fruit" referenced by the Old Hag found in Senpou Temple if you give her Rice.

OK I killed the serpent, got this, then fell off the edge into the water. How do I get back to that ledge? I can see an item there and it's driving me mad!

I finally found it's usage, it's for an alternate ending. SPOILERS: --------------------------------------> After Kuro gets kidnapped again, before fighting with Isshin if you go to Inner Sanctum and talk to the child, and comeback later, you'll see that she is not there, she is in the spirit realm with the monkeys. If you talk to her there she will tell you about an alternate to severance of immortality. Both visceras are for that.

It's most likely for an alternative route / or ending ( the child in the inner sanctum mentions a persimmon and the serpent hearts look like persimmon. )
