The follow-up attack is especially useful for preventing enemy counterattacks. Ashina's Ichimonji is perfected with this follow-up strike.
How to Acquire Ichimonji: Double
- Ichimonji: Double requires 3 Skill Points
- This can be found under the Ashina Arts Skill Tree and is unlocked by resting at a Sculptor's Idol.
Ichimonji: Double Notes & Tips
- Ichimonji: Double is a Combat Arts Skill
- If the first strike hits, the second likely will, too. Otherwise it's identical with Ichimonji with the same virtues (good damage and inherent stamina recovery) and the same sins (has a long windup that nonetheless can be used to catch enemies as they begin to attack).
- Ichimonji (一文字) translates to "straight line".
- Many players find performing Ichimonji, or the "Doubled" version, in the air is better than performing it on the ground(unless you wish to charge your first overhead strike). This is because jumping towards the enemy then performing Ichimonji in the air will actually decrease the minimum charging time on the first strike. The difference is not miniscule either, as it makes the time delay before swinging 20% faster. It is unknown if other combat arts performed in the air will benefit from this tactic.

imo the best skill in the entire game. It's not flashy, but it gets work DONE. If you have the opportunity to use it, it just chunks posture and restores yours like nothing else. Absolutely hilarious to use on Isshin when he goes for his own Ochimonji and you just, walk around him and show him how it's really done.

This skill takes some practice to use correctly but once you've mastered it it will easily carry you till you get EMD. It deals a Truckload of posture damage while recovering your own, and the second strike tends to badly **** up enemies who try to counter attack. this art won me the first fight with Genichiro, hands down; even if it is all but useless for his phase two(when the prick brings out the lightning.

How do you use it because I'm doing the first one but I can't do the second

My favorite combat art. I love Isshin Ashina and using this makes me feel like his student :3

Best combat art for almost any situation. Recovering posture is so powerful and it does good posture and vitality damage and interrupts most enemies, even bosses. You just have to pick your openings and not miss.
So if you knew a way to open and close a door 10% faster than most people could otherwise and with sufficient skill and concentration it only broke your toe once or twice a year is it a good skill? Double Ichimonji is that kind of skill.

The reason why this combat art way ahead the others-stagger.A lot of late game mobs,mini/bosses have hyper armor moves,ie if you chain 3 praying strikes on purple ninjas they most likely will do jump overhead atk and depending on timing and your reaction you can be punsihed, same with any other 2+ hits combat arts, not the case with ichi,it staggers the target no matter if its just startup of atk or move already in action,it will be canceled.

Tremendously useful with bosses having quick movements, especially on higher NG cycle when your posture recovers very slowly

You can loop this with Owl several times until he backs off. Just dodge after the second hit, and you'll be able to do it again.

I used this to hit the well ninja while standing on the rear platform above him since it strikes so low.

The charged up version does MASSIVE posture damage. It's an amazing follow-up move after a Mikiri counter.

This is *****ing useless and slow as hell. Shadowrush is the only good combat art.
Arguably the best Combat Art in the game, in my opinion, and the only one that is truly useful against the vast majority of bosses. It was very helpful to me when fighting Genichiro. On less powerful enemies it can break their posture if you hit both times.

atm it is the most powerful super attack, i don get it why did they added so many supers that are not usable bacicly - some uses spirits, others does low damage.

To me, this one was a really neat way to regain posture in the final battle.

It feels like you cannot block after using this move, maybe something about that should be mentioned when the wiki is fleshed out.
At first ichi seemed like garbage: low range, high startup, small hitbox.
But when used to punish big windows there's almost nothing better. (Enhanced Mortal Blade)
