Ok so this move looks like garbage when you just try it. It's actually incredible but you must have the stealth movemrnt and silent movement. You can cover ground with relative impunity with all three. You can thin out a crowd or get cover from gunners , archers mortor quicky enough that they can't warn everyone or only they attack letting you kill them at range before the mob battle.

I keep accidentally doing this in boss fights, where I'll be sprinting one direction to avoid an attack, then when I abruptly change direction it registers as a thumbstick press (PS4) and I go into the slide rather than turning. Might have to just rebind crouch to a different button at this point.

It dosent work for me? He just goes in to crouch. What am I doing wrong? How do you sprint for starters?
Unironically really useful for stealth. You can easily just run and slide to backstab an enemy, so it's a godsend when I farm shinobis at Ashina Castle Stairway during endgame.
