Flowing Water Notes & Tips

  • Flowing Water is a Latent Skill
  • The english translation is flawed: this skill reduces posture damage taken from attacks blocked/parried with your sword. This skill does not affect Loaded Umbrella. Posture damage reduction is 20% for slash attacks and 25% for all other parriable attacks (light attacks, heavy attacks, thrusts, rifle shots, etc).

Actually this skill doesn't just reduce posture damage from just swords but from all or at least most weapons, as far as I can tell.

      The original line is "敵の攻撃を刀で受けたときの、体幹ダメージを軽減する常在効果"

敵の攻撃を刀で受けたとき = When received an attack of enemy with your blade.

体幹ダメージを軽減する常在効果 = Passive effect of reducing posture damage.

I heard they adjusted it in translation to match English language structure better...or something.

It has been a while since I tested it before but if I remember correctly both enemies with spears and fist-based enemies like the monks of Senpou as well as non-sword attacks like the kicks from the Interior Ministry Ninjas didn't do as much posture damage against me once I acquired this.

You can always test it for yourselves to be sure, just check the levels of posture damage before then check again after acquiring the skill. If you have the software you can even record both to compare, or just take screenshots if you don't mind the tedium.

It's good Skill trust me... Genichiro's Floating Passage combo is like idk 9 Hits ? The main good thing about this Skill is that the Posture damage u take from Swords ( Any Sword Attack against you , No matter what Size is it or shape ) is a Basic Flat Reduction... umm i would say around 15-20% Reduce posture. Might not be much to you but Genichiro's flurry attack is quite a combo... if u dont have this 1 combo without deflecting it right might break ur Block... Sekiro Tip : Sekiro's Kusabimaru Block Posture gauge is Half the Loaded Umbrella gauge infact ( Which flowing water also stacks with umbrella Posture Bar aswell ). So when u block with Katana you have 100% Posture Gauge... while if u block with Umbrella you have 225% gauge. Also you should have Full Vitality 20 to be at Maximum like my test eventually... Umbrella is quite more than double the Posture u have with the Kusabi infact... also Gokan Sugar shouldn't be ignored it's a Very good Sugar for practicing Block Deflections aswell as Maintain Loaded Umbrellas Posture Bar... like facing tough Bosses like Isshin Sword Saint & Demon of Hatred.... Gokan Sugar/Spiritfall Reduces the Posture Damage you take by 33% which is Alot actually... even if u deflect u take posture damage Gokan will make sure you're safe when Blocking for atleast 5 combos... in Genichiro's Flurry Combo without deflecting 1 combo of his will break ur posture while if u got Gokan sugar he needs 2 combos to break u up... it's situational unless u wanna Train Deflect on Bosses in certain times or so. Umbrella is Great against Isshin Saint's spear leap attack & most of his spear combos aswell... should sustain u from damage to go for a Projected Force for good reverse damage situation indeed.
