Very nice. I had 8 prayer neckless and think to myself "Hmm. I will just start a new game+ and will get the rest on bosses I already killed. Easy."

Then I killed first boss on new game plus and got coin purse...

      Great. Fantastic...

      • Anonymous

The last one for me was the one after defeating Long-Arm Centipede Giraffe in Sunken Valley. There is difficult to see passage under the floor.

After going through NG+ and not able to find the last one, I tried to get them in a new slot. Once I got to the Long-Arm Centipede Giraffe I went below the floor and I notice there was no prayer beads. That's when I realized I hadn't read the steps properly.

I just hope this help someone who might be thinking their are glitched (as I was)

I've scoured the game for Prayer Beads and the final two I'm missing seem to be the two you get in the Hirata Estate, second memory. Is there any way to get those since I'm doing the Return ending?

          • Anonymous

Don't know if this is stated, but make sure you don't have three beads in your inventory when you fight Headless Ape because the extra bead will be lost until NG+

            • Anonymous

so let me get this straight...

According to this wiki, getting all 40 prayer beads results in having 200% more health than what you started with. So does this mean there are diminishing returns on the vitality increase every time you get a prayer necklace?

              10 necklaces x 20% base health = 200% base health

so let's pretend you start with 100 HP. After the first necklace, you would have 120 HP. After the second, you have 140 HP, so on and so forth until you reach 300,HP, a 200% increase to your base health.

THis is ****ing bullshit then if you think about how much health you gain relative to the amoutn of health you had when you receive each necklace. Going from 280 HP to 300 HP is only a 14% increase to your health. As you progress towards the end of the game, most prayer necklaces are harder to obtain compared to the start of the game simply because you have to kill stronger mini bosses to obtain them. Why would From Software make it so that the hardest prayer beads to get result in the least amoutn of health gained?

I suspect that this wiki is bullshit. I think that each neckalce is a 20% increase to the amoutn of health that you had when you obtained it. So you would have way more than a 300% increase to your base health if you get all 40.

If I'm wrong, please let me know so that I don't even bother getting the last couple of prayer necklaces.
              If II'm wrong about this

Anyone know if there's a way to get into the building where you first meet Tengu after Demon of Hatred spawns but before beating him? That's the one prayer bead I'm missing and Demon is the only boss I have left, also happens to be the only one I'd really want max vitality for. Doing a no prosthetic run so umbrella isn't gonna help me

                • Anonymous

the one I was missing was the #2 in ashina depths, I didn't read the whole thing and thought you were meant to go forwards after crouching cause at the end there is a bundled jizou statue which is often the replacement for actual prayer beads

Behind Snake Eyes Shirahagi in Ashina Depths was the one bead I was missing. Luckily I found out quickly, but it's easy to miss.

Spawn at antechamber. Go up the stairs and run past the enemy, then make a sharp right and run into the large room ahead, turning left slightly as you do so. You'll be met with two armor sets. In between them is a secret passage. This is where you might be missing your bead. It's where I was missing mine.

im gonna lose my sanity i can't find the last bead im at the great shinobi owl and the youtubers i watched they have 17 vitality and 2/4 bead complete but i have 17 vitality and 1/4 i want to die

                            • Anonymous

I completed the game and only had 39. Couldn't figure out which one I was missing so I went to every location in this list, and still only had 39. Started NG+ and I finally got the bead from Okami Leader. I must have skipped that miniboss in the first playthrough and I guess it despawned at some point with no way to get the bead, since I had gone back to the Sakura Tree after beating Saint Isshin and it wasn't there. My first playthrough was unpatched and NG+ was 1.06 so maybe it's something that was fixed later.

                                Missing one...
Only not killed Owl from 2nd memory or the Dragon at the end. All areas' unlocked, all things bought, all enemies in the above list killed (have to be to get where I am), the one that can be bought and all the ones that can be found are checked off... Yet, I am at 0 currently, w/3 left to go... (after aflame areas).

Why does it feels like when my vitality and posture goes up, my enemies are getting tougher, like their damage are increasing as I offer prayer beads

yooo, PSA! The wiki isn't very clear about it but those secret door (in hirata and ashina castle) are shinobi doors marked with a scroll on the wall instead of a silhouette, they're pretty easy to miss

                                    • Anonymous

Was missing one for the longest, turns out the wikis outdated. The one they've forgotten is in the poison pool after snake eyes just before ape there's a grapple that takes you to a crouching area, the moment you can stand turn left and look up, there's a grapple point that takes you to a buddha's head that where the bead is

                                      • Anonymous

Chipping in with my "I had 39 for ages story"

Last one was the hidden wall located between the two sets of armor behind the two Blue-Robed Samurai. When I first read this I thought it meant the breakable wall behind the two blue-robe samurai that are beside the staircase up to the dojo which I had already been to so thought I had picked up a bead there. It was only when I went back there and there was no armor that I realised I had jumped to the wrong conclusion.

Important note: if you miss a bead on your first play through, you can’t get it until you get to that specific prayer bead in Ng+

For those who might be missing one like myself, the one prayer bead I was missing was the secret room in the upper tower - antechamber idol. To the right next to the two blues ashina samurai. Spent hours until I remembered that room.

                                            • Anonymous

I was missing 1, before beating the Divine Dragon and continuing to the Ashina Ablaze section (not counting the 3 you can get during that section). The last one I was looking for was for diving into Mibu Village Lake. Hope this helps others

                                              • Went thru the whole game thinking i had a glitch. Only killed ONE of the giraffe centipede guys. The one from temple grounds, mt. Kongo where you go up then down the sneaky area then climb over the wall to the other sneaky area is imo/experience the easiest to miss. Esp. given the list above, i was so sure i killed all the giraffes... Ugh... Then i was like, did I really kill two giraffes? And remembered how extra stealthy i was in senpou temples. Snuck past the whole scenario.

This is the one I was missing for 40, it's pretty easy to miss so I am assuming it might be the one you all are missing too: From the Temple Grounds Sculptor's Idol jump into the pond containing two Treasure Carps and dive. This can only be obtained after acquiring the Mibu Breathing Technique Latent Skill.

                                                  • One Prayer Bead isnt mentioned here, the one before the Headless (Ungo) fight in the Sunken Valley (the Spot with the Sniper and 3 White Phantom Samurai)

I am at 9 necklaces and and 3 beads, i got one at the offering box along with the kunai thing, but i didn't go to hirata a second time so i am confused. Wasn't i supposed to be missing 2 beads?

                                                                  • Anonymous

Actually why are u guys thinking that you have to do the Purification Ending for getting all Beads . You can actually Skip Father Owl Fight to Kill Lone Shadow Masanaga & Jozou's Rematch at thr 2nd Hirata Estate Memory. But with this it surely wants u to Disobey the Iron Code so just go first playthrough Purification Ending & on NG+ do Shura it's actually Easier first than NG+ for the Purification Ending... since their damage output is almost manageable... i also got all 40 Beads before facing Father Owl uptill Shikigechi then i headed back to kill Owl & then proceed to Demon Of Hatred then finish the Purification Ending... For the First Playthrough it surely is the Hardest Ending but also the Most Rewarding for Attack Power upto 14 ( Initial Soft Cap of 340 Vitality Damage ) while from 15-99 is almost Half the amount 340 Vitality Damage... Caping upto 99 Attack Power is somewhere between 590-620 Vitality Damage i think..

                                                                    • Anonymous

Also none in the offering box. The only other 2 i'm missing are from hirata estate round 2, so that will put me at 39/40. I'm confused and pissed.

                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

This is near the upstream of the river and you have to grapple to get up there.I feel like this one is very easily missed if it helps anyone. The link from above

                                                                              • I'm having the issue where the bead is (I assume) in the offering box, but unobtainable (despite a previous comment stating they can be purchased from the box for 2,200 sen). My question is, if I go to NG+, do I have to just guess which miniboss it was from and get lucky? I'm thinking it was Lone Shadow Masanaga the Spear-Bearer, since he disappears after defeating the divine dragon and he's the only one I don't 100% recall beating (still thought I did after talking to the Tengu in the same room?) Pretty big tease to show the Offering Box with an item you can't get.

                                                                                • Anonymous

I'd understand if there was a precedent but usually the rotating walls have the person's outline on it.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

I come up with are either a miniboss fell before i knew that wasnt true kill, or im remembering fighting a boss that i never killed then lost the opportunity to go back. Only now assuming him dead because i remem the fight. Im leaning toward the first. Perhaps if anyone else is clueless as to where they miss one this will help with possiblities.

Spawn at corrupted monk and go back into the house with the human you give spring water to that turns into a mist noble. Walk out into the opening, jump on the rock and 180° you should see a grapple point to the attic of the house. And the end is a few spirit emblems and the final bead.

I'm at the endgame and I'm pretty sure they're in the offering box since its glowing. The problem is, the game won't let me pick them up and keeps giving me a message that the box is empty even though it's glowing. I tried resting at the idol and leaving the area and coming back in every way I could, but it's still giving me the message and not letting me pick it up.

Just wondering as the later necklaces seem to provide more health than the earlier ones.

I believe they are from 2 mini bosses that you have to face a 2nd time later in the game. The one I know for sure that I didn't kill is ashina seven Spears. Not sure about the other. But I was able to purchase them for 2200 sen each from the offering box. Not sure if this has been mentioned before.

This is incorrect. It's not a rematch, it's a separate miniboss. It's Seven Ashina Spears - Shume Masaji Oniwa.

I followed this guide throughout my playthrough, but towards the end I realized I was on track to have 39/40 but I couldn't figure out which one I was missing. MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE CHECK THE GUN FORT PRAYER BEAD thats after Long-Arm Centipede Giraffe. I had gone through the tunnel once before, and I was convinced I had collected that bead. Buuuut... I didn't. I had actually gone through the wrong way. After you go through the tunnel in the floor to the ledge, look almost straight up and to the right to the grapple point, and follow the points to the right. This assumes this is the bead you're missing, since its easily missed. GL

The other prayer bead comes from a mini boss named "Lone Shadow Masanaga the Spear-Bearer".

To reach it from the idol starting point, you need to hug the right wall and go into the tunnel. Look up to the left at the first cliff/drop and grapple up. Crouch under the first rock and stop at the bit where you can stand up. You will find it just up from here
